CURATORIAL STATEMENT

Echoes of Empowerment celebrates the strength, resilience, leadership, and contributions of Black-identifying students and figures at Queen's University. This exhibition honours past and present leaders while inspiring future generations to continue fostering empowerment and equity. It explores themes of identity, perseverance, and activism through photography. The exhibition highlights the remarkable work of Black students, from entrepreneurship to academic and creative achievements.

Ultimately,  Echoes of Empowerment is more than just an exhibition—it’s a movement, a conversation, and a celebration of Black identity, progress, and future possibilities.

WORKS ON DISPLAY

South wall: The left wall showcases two student businesses: Capone clothing and Lashes by Lara, as well as the Ethiopian Eritrean Student Association.
West wall: The main wall showcases the Black experience at Queen’s with pictures taken from different events.
North wall: The right wall showcases the Queens Black Fashion Association’s project: The Puffer Project, taken by King-David Olajuwon.
