Queer Karaoke Dance Party
Hosted by Fan Wu + Agnes Etherington Art Centre at Union Gallery
Friday, September 20, 4-8pm
Free + in-person
Welcome new and returning students! As part of a two-day orientation program, Agnes’s annual Queer Karaoke Party continues this year in partnership with Union Gallery.
Karaoke is our community in song, our channel of catharsis. I’ve seen versions of AQUA and Tina Turner that are burned into my memory. Karaoke is the forgery, the dupe, the knockoff raised to the status of a new original fuelled by the enthusiasm of the amateur. Come sing with us at Union Gallery in a warm and welcoming space of resonant expression. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but even better is your will to mark the song with the distinctiveness of your spirit.
